There was a big turnout for the turn on of the Christmas tree lights in Surbiton last night. Father Christmas waved his magic wand to switch on the 2013 lights in the presence of the Mayor of Kingston, Cllr Penny Shelton.

This year the streets of Surbiton were also brightened with the new lighting that has been recently installed in Victoria Road and other main streets. They were enhanced by chains of lights on the standards.

After a parade from the Christmas tree, opposite Surbiton Station, along Victoria and Brighton Roads there was further entertainment in Cottage Grove well into the evening. Children also had an opportunity to see some animals, including donkeys, which were on show in the Woodlands Cars showrooms on St Mark’s Hill.
